We like recipes that are simple and quick enough that they do not require much forethought, but can be built upon and changed to make many different meals; should you choose. Our Overnight French Toast, Overnight Egg Bake, 5-minute a day bread, and this quiche are starter meals that can be customized endlessly.
This quiche is great because you do not have to buy or make a crust, since it uses the biscuit mix which we showed you how to make here. It is also amazingly versatile. You can add whatever ingredients you want to it.
We like to make a savory version with chicken and vegetables, but you could do a sweet version with your favorite fruit and a little sugar. Experiment and find what works best for you and your family. Come back here and share what worked well/not so well for you and how you did it.
The Ingredients:
- 3 eggs
- 1 and 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup biscuit mix
- Your seasoning of choice (Salt & pepper are staples, but take it further, use your favorite seasonings to make something unique. Foodfit explains which seasonings go best with what.)
- Your main ingredients of choice (meats, cheeses, vegetables, fruit, … etc. Again, mix it up. )
The Method
1. Prepare the ingredients
Cut all meats, vegetables, or fruits into finely chopped pieces.
2. For a quiche with meat
Fully cook your meat on the stove top with whatever seasonings you would like.
3. For a quiche with vegetables
Add your finely chopped vegetables to your meat and cook until tender (or cook separately).
4. Prepare the wet quiche mixture
In a bowl, mix the eggs, milk and butter together. Add in the biscuit mix and whatever seasonings you desire. Whisk until well mixed.
5. Put it all together
Add the vegetables and meat into the wet quiche mixture and stir together.
6. Prepare for baking
Pour the wet mixture into a greased 9 in. pie plate and top with cheese (optional)
7. Bake
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30-35 minutes
8. Rest
Let the quiche stand for 10 minutes before cutting.
