As I sat down to my desk and opened God’s word in order to set my eyes first on him, this is what I read:
My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments; for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Do not let kindness and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and man.
Proverbs 3:1-4
I do not always have a “good repute” or, in other words, a good reputation among my fellow man or “in the sight of God.” Perhaps other people are fickle and unforgiving? Maybe others cannot accept me for me. Maybe I’m always right and they are always wrong.
or…
Perhaps when I speak truth, sometimes I leave the kindness at the door.
What about you?

Hey Evan…
Truth hurts sometimes, and we need more people willing not to sugar coat it.
Of course we need to make sure what we do it with the right heart…
1 Peter 4:8-11 (New International Version)
(8)Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. (9)Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. (10)Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. (11)If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
