Does anyone know of a good toddler curriculum, activity, or resource?
This fall (I say that purely in the sense of time and not of season) we want to start some kind of structured schooling with The Monkey. Up until now, our activities have been random and inconsistent, when they happen at all. One day we color, the next we do some sort of activity with letters, the day after that we might do some sorting, etc.
Right now we do not have many resources and have few ideas of what he should be learning at this age – or how to teach it to him. This forces our learning activities to be focused more around preventing boredom, than teaching him things that build upon each other.
My goal is to find a curriculum that has units with numbers, shapes, colors, and letters; with many activities included. Because we don’t have access to craft stores, we need it to be something that doesn’t require too many store bought supplies. We have glue sticks, yogurt containers and a lot of cardboard cereal boxes. That is our craft store.
Though The Monkey will only be two and a half this September, he is so smart and very energetic so he really needs a lot of activities to keep him busy during the day. Plus, he just loves learning. However, when he is idle he is gets in trouble. We figure that even though he is young, having a little more structure to his learning will help him to focus his energetic tendencies.
If you have an idea or two for a quality book, website, or even better a whole set of toddler curriculum, leave it in the comments section. Anything will help.

This is a site that both of our girls LOVE LOVE LOVE. Did I mention they love it?
We don’t allow the kids to use the computer much at all, but one thing they ask for is to use this site. It teaches English, German, French, and Spanish. There are games, skill building concerning colors, shapes, numbers, letters (upper and lower case), and it’s very toddler appropriate. The only thing we needed was a kid sized mouse…which a laptop mouse works perfectly for.
I’ll keep my eyes open for activity ideas for your monkey.

Hey,
I haven’t checked out your blog in a while. We are no longer in Indo, we are home in the States for a few months. Since my son is still a baby we haven’t had any experience with this kind of thing, but I know in Surabaya a lot of people sent their kids to playgroup things. In Surabaya the popular one was called FasTrack Kids. There were several others as well, but I can’t remember the names. They were similar to preschool classes and I think they started around 2 years old. I have no idea about cost or anything like that. I hope that helps.

I use Gleen Doman and Kumon materials and I search some pictures from internet for my daughter. It works for her, at the beginning she didn’t interest but now she is excited when i ask her to get her Kumon bag to study. Some times i make powerpoint about words, pictures and dots. she can count and say in order of number until 10 and letter A-Z. I observe that she can do these staffs probably because the repetition that we give to her everyday. If you want to make cards, it is good if you laminate so it can be used for years.
