Accident Prone
It would not surprise me in the least if our eldest, the Monkey, arrives into adulthood without any teeth of his own. Either by my mishaps or his own, he seems prone to injury.
Last night, as we were preparing to go for a walk as a family to a nearby convenience store to pick up some Popsicles, I watched as he slipped from the chair he was climbing onto and smacked his chin on the dining room table.
I jumped up quickly to make sure he was alright. There was blood streaming out of his mouth. My wife grabbed a wet towel and I inspected his mouth; discovering he had bitten a pretty big gash in the side of his tongue. Thankfully, it wasn’t anything that warranted a hospital visit. He was alright so we gave him a frozen strawberry to suck on. It helped with the swelling and even more, with his happiness.
Crying Uncontrollably
We took the walk, enjoyed our Popsicles and then put the boys to sleep. The Monkey and his little bother (cute moniker to be given later) have been sleeping in our bed recently. About two hours after putting them down, the Monkey woke up, crying uncontrollably. Since he is more and more able to talk clearly, he told us his mouth hurt. I took him downstairs and gave him some paracetamol (Tylenol) and asked him if he wanted a piece of ice to suck on.
Ice Cream with Dad
He hopped down from my lap, ran to the freezer (which is on the bottom), and retrieved the ice he wanted. Long past his bedtime, father and son sat together on the stairs and enjoyed a couple ice cream cones.
