Yesterday Jessica visited me in my classroom (I am in a period of preparation before school starts a week from tomorrow) and helped me get my class a little more in order. She took an hour and a dozen or so National Geographic maps that I brought with me and transformed my back bulletin board into a masterpiece of symmetry and design. It makes preparing lessons a lot easier because I have something clean and smart to look at instead of the disaster which was my classroom before she helped out. I’ll post a picture as soon as I can figure out how to get pictures off of my phone.
We would like to get back to posting very regularly but right now there is no internet at the house. I only have it in my classroom and I need to use that time for preparing. Hopefully we will be wired (or wireless) at the house shortly.
Please be praying for us as tonight we will be doing our first interview with a possible pembantu (read: helper/maid). She would be a live in. Her name is Endong and is the seventeen year old sister of the headmaster’s helper. We are feeling weird about having someone live with us and clean up after us. Still, we have realized that the houses here are designed for you to have a helper and the roads are designed for you to have a driver. You know what they say, “When in Rome, do as the Indonesians do…” or something like that.
