On Saturday our littlest turned one year old. The Puppy (we are still searching for a better nickname for him) had no idea that he even had a birthday, but I think he enjoyed it. We made it a relaxed day since it came after Evan being gone for three days at a school retreat.
The Puppy’s birthday gift was 100 small ball-pit type balls. He loves those balls and will play contentedly in his pack and play with them for a good half hour, which makes it a good gift for us as well.

We ended the day with a cake made in a skillet pan on the stove-top since our oven is not working properly. The cake, which got a little bit overcooked and cornbreadish, still had a candle in it, which The Puppy had no idea how to blow out.
The Monkey came to his rescue and blew it out for him, since he is an expert at those kinds of things these days.

What we love about the puppy:
- He likes his alone time and finds a closet or corner in every room to be in.
- He can take whatever The Monkey dishes out to him, which includes many wrestling-like tackles, strong hugs, and pushes.
- He makes what he wants very clear by yelling at the top of his lungs (this is not always on the “what we love” list).
- He is so cute.
Happy birthday little, big guy.
