If all you care about are the giveaway details, they’re below.
I have to admit that I love HP! Of all the computers that I’ve bought, they’ve all been HP. I loved them even more when they gave me over $6,000 worth of computers last year. They even picked up the tab on the shipping and taxes to Indonesia. I (im)patiently waited for the package which showed up one day after Christmas. It was definitely a Merry Christmas for me.
We were then able to sell the 14 inch laptop to my colleague (don’t tell HP) and bought two more HP Mini netbooks, because they are just about the best computer ever. Small, yet not too small. Fast. Great with Windows 7. What’s not to like?
At school we held a fundraiser for a village school we’re connected with and I promised our students that I would match what they rasied. For every $500 they raised, I would give one Mini to that village school as well. By the end, they had raise over $1,300! Unfortunately the school that we intended to give the Mini’s to did not want them, as they would be to0 much of a burden to keep safe as they didn’t even have windows. We took the money that was raised and bought a bunch of school supplies instead. They loved that, but I was still left with two netbooks and no one to give them to.
Three or four months later we decided to hold a writing contest for graduating seniors at another school that is part of the foundation I work for. That was a great experience as we were able to give a girl heading off to university a step-up, as she had no laptop. She was blessed, we were blessed. Thank you HP. We still have one HP Mini that we’re looking to give away to a neighboring school in the near future. We want it to bless the people of Indonesia somehow.
But anyways. HP is up to their giving-away-thousands-of-dollars-worth-of-computers-to-just-about-anybody ways again. They’ve teamed up with Ivy Worldwide the ad agency that helped them with their 31 Days of the Dragon Giveaway (I almost won!) and their HP Magic Giveaway (I won!) to give away 25 HP dv6 laptops and 25 HP Mini 110 laptop (netbooks), with 25 Timbuk2 gear bags. Their Back to School: Better Together giveaway started last week and runs through September 9. Each blog runs their own contest, but generally the entries are few and the rules not very difficult. So give one a shot. Or don’t. I don’t mind trying to win a couple more without the competition.
